Monique Basson reported in the Kouga Express of 22 March 2012 that theKouga Municipality ’s standing committee on Infrastructure Planning and Development has approved a rezoning application for the development of a R2 billion wind farm at Oyster Bay . The issue is expected to be discussed at a council meeting on 29 March 2012. If approved, work on the wind farm will commence soon.
It is significant that a senior and widely respected DA councillor, Ben Rheeder, has made it known that his ward, which comprises St.Francis Bay , Kromme River
Rheeder’s statement is also noteworthy in another respect: it is the third time in as many weeks that a DA councillor has been quoted in the local media.
