In a statement at a media conference on the meaning of the WDC 2014 award forCape Town , Councillor Brett Herron said, "Having won the Word Design Capital 2014 Award amongst all the world’s cities is a huge honour, but also an opportunity for Cape Town . Every winning city in the past has done something differently with the award and has applied design to their cities in different ways.
